Finding Rothko

You don’t get to be the principal flute of the Boston Symphony Orchestra because you are a pretty good flute player. You get to be the principal flute of the Boston Symphony by being a flute rockstar! Marianne Gedigian did just that. Now, she’s professor of flute at the University of Texas and guest soloist on Silver Lining, a new flute concerto by Dallas native and one of today’s most popular composers for band, Frank Ticheli.

Take down all your “Lost Rothko” signs – Adam Schoenberg seems to have found the missing artist in his four movement piece titled Finding Rothko. This brilliantly colorful piece is inspired by the works of painter Mark Rothko.

  • David Maslanka: Traveler
  • Frank Ticheli: Silver Lining
  • Johan Halvorsen: Entry March of the Boyars
  • Adam Schoenberg: Finding Rothko
  • Tchaikovsky: Capriccio Italian
