Windnotes with Professor Carol

Not your typical, snore-inducing, pre-concert lecture! It’s an impassioned sermon combining history, music theory, and behind-the-scenes dirt on the pieces and composers featured in the evening’s program. Dr. Carol Reynolds is a Smithsonian lecturer and encyclopedia of musicology. There may also be homemade cupcakes… seriously.

World Premiere Fanfares

Nobody ever announced a cavalry charge with a string quartet, and no Dallas Winds concert begins without a fantastic World Premiere brass fanfare written exclusively for us. Our audience gathers in the Meyerson lobby for this ceremony, and no other band in the country does it.

Sing It Proud!

Tired of country-western, R&B, bubble-gum boy-band ballgame interpretations of our national anthem? Us too. We begin every concert with the The Star-Spangled Banner the way it was meant to be played: a rousing, rip-roaring sing-along with the greatest band in the good ol’ U-S-of-A.

The Concert: Dig In!

All that was just the appetizer. Now comes the main course: The Dallas Winds live on stage in one of the world’s top concert halls. And don’t forget dessert – every concert ends with a rousing march! A little something to get your toes tapping and send you home with a smile.

Bandmaster of Ceremonies

His business card says “Artistic Director,” but Jerry Junkin is more like a tour guide, a comedian, a ringmaster and tent-revival preacher, all sharing the stylish black jacket of America’s greatest wind band conductor. Maestro Junkin will be your host for an evening of emotional, eclectic music that’s sure to move you.

Dates, repertoire & artists subject to change. No refunds, no exchanges on ticket purchases.
