The Dallas Wind Symphony will herald the beginning of each concert during their 2012-2013 concert season with works from seven American composers, as a result of their 2012 Fanfare Competition.

“We’ve been holding our Fanfare Competition since 2000,” said Wind Symphony Founder and Executive Director Kim Campbell. “This year’s competition drew 21 entries from an international array of composers. We were delighted to see such widespread interest in writing for the wind band.”

Winners of the 2012 Fanfare Competition include:

  • Overdrive by Jeff Jordan of Hays, Kansas
  • Fanfarest of the Fair by Michael Mikulka of Austin, Texas
  • Fanfare from the Hiawatha Line by Christopher Danforth of Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • American Fanfare by Robert W. Gillam of Sahuarita, Arizona
  • Exulto by Gary Gazlay of Madison, Florida
  • Sir Richard’s Fanfare by Scott Pierson of San Jose, California
  • Prelude to a New Beginning by Mike Forbes of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin
